For the past three years my paintings have focused on frail,
dead animals and their inherent beauty. The goal of my work
is to present a visually and emotionally compelling image in the
most simple and direct manner possible. Though dealing with
obvious themes of life, death and rebirth, my primary concern
is creating a quietly arresting image that can be instantly
recognized and digested. I also believe that keeping my
paintings aesthetically terse serves to counteract their natural
lean towards being overly romantic, sappy or kitsch. The end
goal of my work, however, is to create a piece that will, at
least momentarily, envelope the viewer in its private world.
